Passed peacefully the morning of Wednesday April 6th, 2011.
John spent his early career as a salesman. He worked for Lawyer's Co-op in Webster for 15 years.
John was an avid outdoors man. Fishing, hunting & trapping were his passions. He also taught Rod Building classes at Eastman Kodak.
John set many records in the fishing industry.
He is in the International Game Fish Association, 5 to 1 Club, The National Fresh Water, Fishing Hall of Fame.
John as struck by heart disease in his early 40's and was unable to continue to work. He tried to relax and get better and at that time he realized that his hobbies were his opportunity to expand his Rod Building Business, John DiMartino Custom Rod and a few years later, Coleman Tackle were born.
Through many years of hard work, both companies became well known. The products have become a recognized brand of quality and craftmanship to fisherman all over the world. Rods, Reel & Tackle were products he stood by for quality products.
Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Christine; children, John L. (Sue), Michelle, Anthony and Mario DiMartino; siblings, Joseph (Donna), Louis (Barb) & Mary (Marty) Horowitz; grandkids, Angelo, Anthony, Ellie & Marco; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
