Corona, Louis F. Sr.
Webster: Born December 29, 1921. Passed away Friday, November 12, 2010. A loving husband, father and grandfather. Predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Ersilia (Mannarelli) Corona of Abruzzi, Italy; by his brothers, Pat, Anthony and Dominic; sisters, Minnie(Lippa), Dora (Ardillo), Jennie(Argento), Eleanor (Sanger). Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Laura(Lenzo); son, Louis Jr.; daughters, Donna and Karen (Ciaccia); grandchildren, Kristen Ciaccia (Scott), Alicia Ciaccia and Lauren Ciaccia (Dan) and Luke Corona (Danielle); great-grandchildren, Santino and Dominic; sister-in-law, Mary (Leo) Corona; many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
Lou served in WWII in the South Pacific and retired after 43 years from the Rochester Button Company as Purchasing Agent. He bowled, loved golfing, the New York Yankees and music, especially big band. Lou was the only president of the Bojaks Social Club, a group of childhood friends and their wives who remained friends over 70 years.
Lou briefly played professional minor league baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1940. He was also respected as one of the best fast pitch softball players in New York in the 1950's (Mr. Shortstop).
Lou was a dedicated family man, quiet gentleman loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to all the wonderful caregivers at RGH Dialysis Center, ILS, the RGH MICU Unit and Lifetime Care. The Corona family would also like to thank Dr. Richard Constantino and Evelyn Diaz for the many years of care and friendship.
At Lou's request, there will be no prior calling hours and funeral services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to RGH Dialysis Center.
