Obituary of Mary Coykendall

Mary Coykendall Died on June 6, 2010 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. Ms. Coykendall was born on February 22, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Alma Weis. She is survived by her brother James Weis and his wife Sharou of Springfield, Illinois; her special friend Coe Coykendall of Rochester; and many cousins and friends. Mary was a research chemist for Eastman Kodak Co. and more recently a catalog librarian for Rochester Public Library. She enjoyed hiking, canoeing, gardening, and cross country bicycling. When the Finger Lakes Trail was being developed, she was for several years editor of the trail association's newsletter and was in charge of building one segment of the trail. Mary loved music and sang in the Rochester Bach Festival Chorus, the Rochester Oratorio Society Choir, and the choir of First Unitarian Church of Rochester. She also played in the church's clarinet ensemble. She was an active volunteer in various groups concerned for preserving the environment and seeking social justice. A memorial for Ms. Coykendall will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester at 1 PM on June 13, 2010.
