Happy 77th birthday sweetheart! I thought about all day today. I requested one of my favorite songs on WBEE tonight. I wish I could talk with you and touch your sweet face. You will always be with me. I will always need you to watch over me. So far you have done a great job! Yesterday, today, and tomorrow. For always!
Love,
Diane and Dutch

Dear Kenneth,
I miss you so much. I miss your sweet ways. I miss not be able to talk with you. I have been going every day to the graveyard to visit with you. It's not the same, but it's nice to have a destination to go and visit you. I hope you like your stone. I think it came out nice. You were my rock. It's so hard to go on without you. I have been cleaning out the garage, and trying to organize everything. I've been trying to sell the bike to no avail. Tomorrow is the first day in the D&C. I will only sell it to the right person. I drove Dutch to Casey Park on Knickbocker Road to go swimming. He actually jumped off the dock. You would have been so proud of him. He seems to be doing better as long as I keep him occupied. He really misses his daddy though.
Love you forever,
Diane

We may have missed our early years but as adults we were able to grow close, as friends, as well as siblings.

Dear Keilmans, It was our honor and pleasure to know Kenny over the past many years. I (Mary Ann) worked with both him and Diane at NCS Healthcare and we all became good friends. We moved away to NC about four years ago but have continued to stay in touch and maintain the friendship. Whenever we would return to Rochester, we always made sure to see Kenny and Diane -- it was a big part of going back home. Like all of you, we will miss him, but know that he is now at peace. Diane, you are an amazing wife and I know you did everything possible for Kenny. What an example you are! May all of you find peace in happy memories and the solace of time. Love to all of you, Mary Ann and Bill

Ken was my beloved husband for almost 12 years. He fought his cancer for over two years. He was in pain all the time, and never complained. He had two ablations done to hopefully relieve the pain in his back, but he ended up losing the ability to use his legs. Because I couldn't take care of him at home by myself, the family and the doctor at Rochester General said that Ken had to be admitted to a nursing home. We tried Hill Haven, but pulled him out after a week. Then he was transferred to Latta Road Nursing Home. The home was really nice, and the employees were so sweet. I think everyone fell in love with Ken's personality. He was able to go fishing a few times thanks to his children. I went to Finger Lakes with him one day, when they had a group field trip. We bet on the horses and Ken won two times. Even though he was in pain, he was so happy to get out. He loved his strawberry tapioca that his daughter Janet and Beverly brought up. Karen and I brought him up Peach Pies, and Australian Licorice. Kevin and Beverly brought him up Chocolate milkshakes. Kenny bought Ken a new razor. Tim would always bring him up goodies and a positive attitude. We were willing to do anything to put a smile on his face. Ken has such a gentle spirit about him. He accepted everything that happened to him with such grace. I know that he was deeply religous in a quiet way. He didn't talk about it that much, but he walked the walk, and that was proof for me. He had a beautiful smile, and a deep voice, and a manly giggle. He was a friend to everyone, and could walk into a room of strangers and start a conversation. He was always gentle with me, if he was mad he would go in the garage and "tinker" with things. He loved his ex-wifes, the mothers of his children. He showed us that we can all get along with each other. It can be done. It is so much better than everyone hating each other. We are only on Earth for a short time. It's better to make friends than enemies. I know that it has been hard on the children since Ken married me years ago. I really do love each of his children. They each are unique in their own way. I would like to thank Father Jim for giving Ken his last rights at Park Ridge. I think he helped Ken accept his fate much easier, instead of fighting it. I also would like to thank Falvo Funeral Home for doing a fantastic job. Also St. Rita's for the beautiful mass for Ken. Father Chuck had a wonderful homily, and Grant Esler gave a good eulogy Also my special thanks to Latta Road Nursing Home for making him feel at home, and letting us decorate the room the way we wanted. The employees were great and very caring. I do appreciate that they tried their best, but were smart enough to send him to Park Ridge in the end. I will miss him terribly. I feel his presence in the house. I am not scared, it's more of a spiritual feeling. He was my husband, lover, best friend, priest, hunting buddy, fishing buddy, repair man, etc. all rolled into one. I know that he can truely rest in peace. No more needles, bags, oxygen, getting moved around, or pills. He is free. I will love him forever. I have been bringing the dog to Ken's grave. I know that Dutch knows. He really misses his Daddy. I invite family and friends to leave messages.
