Obituary of Michael Giovine

Michael J. Giovine May 21, 2010 Lee, Massachusetts: After a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rochester, NY, to Russel and Eleanor Rossi Giovine, Mike owned and operated The Boot Locker. He was an accomplished accordion player from the ages of 6 to 18. He won many competitions and performed in the USA and Europe. Mike played with such greats as Dick Contino and Myron Floren. In addition, he was a talented drummer and pianist, he even organized his own band. On October 3, 1980, he married "The love of his life" the former Cindy Corbitt of Lee, MA; they resided in Rochester, NY and moved to Lee, MA in 1986. Mike owned and operated the successful modular home business, Builders Network, Inc. for over 20 years. In conjunction with VOX Communications he and his son Michael created the Home Free Giveaway in which 2 homes have been given away. Additional services were donated by Mike's sub-contractors. When it came to family he always said "The best thing that ever happened to me was my children." He and his wife Cindy were childhood sweethearts and the love continued to grow from their wedding day and then, for the next twenty-nine years. Cindy was his love, care-giver and best friend! Mike loved golfing with his father, son and his friends. He sponsored the Builder's Network Pro-Am at Greenock Country Club in Lee, MA for many years. Going to Mohegan Sun was another one of his many passions. Mike was predeceased by his father, Russel and brother, Steven Giovine. He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Michael C. Giovine of Pittsfield and his daughter Sara L. Giovine of Lee; mother, Eleanor; his sister Cheryl ( Scott ) Taylor; his sisters-in-law Chris Walker and Kathy Corbitt; nieces and nephews; Austin, Courtney and Morgan Taylor, Stephanie Burtt and Jono Walker. Also survived by aunts, Marie Leone and Rose Giovine, several cousins and many friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:15 AM in St. Rita's Church.
