Went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2012 at age 85.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Betty. Also survived by his son, Donald Simons Jr. and his wife, Nanette; grandson, Nathan; sisters-in-law, Katherine Simons, Arlene Leenhouts (Norman); and many special nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Lester. Don was a WWII Veteran; enlisted in the Air Corp. and served as a tail gunner on a bomber in the Pacific. After being discharged, Don returned to Rochester and was employed by Kodak for 25 years. He was a graduated Gemologist, who owned and operated the Gem Gallery in Webster for 22 years. There he had an extensive mineral collection and would give lectures and tours to the Boy and Girl Scouts until he and Betty retired. After retirement, he and Betty spent their winters in Florida. He was a graduate Gemologist, member of the GIA Alumni, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Full Gospel Businessmen and FAME Lodge F&AM Masonic Fraternity.
Visitation, Sunday March 25th, 2-4 & 6-8 at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road (Route 250).
On Monday March 26th, family and friends are asked to go directly to the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Road, Pittsford) for his Funeral Service at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Open Door Mission, 156 N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester 14608, the Salvation Army, 70 Liberty Pole Way, Rochester 14604 or to a charity of your choice .
