Obituary of Hans Gawens

Gawens, Hans D. Sr. Rochester: May 2, 2009. Unexpectedly at 70 years of age. Predeceased by his parents, Johann and Maria Gawens of Korschenbroich, Germany; brothers, Gert Gawens of Korsch-enbroich and Harold Gavens of Rochester, NY. Survived by sister-in-law, Edeltraut Gawens of Korschenbroich, Germany; loving wife of 42 years, Joan M. Gawens; beloved sons, Hans Jr. (John Huskinsen), Theodore (Christina) Gawens; granddaughters, Anna Gawens, Brittany Ochterbeck, Shannon and Lillian Gawens; brothers-in-law, Earl (Evelyn), George (Rowena) and Kenneth (Sue) General; sister-in-law, Deborah (Kenneth "Charlie") Morf; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and his cat, Lorelei. Hans was a master welder/ retiree of Kodak for 35 years. He apprenticed in Germany and was very proud to put his Stamp on any piece of his work. His peers looked up to him. He served in the US Air Force as a Photography Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1968. As we mourn his departure, we celebrate his life and legacy. Calling Tuesday 4-8 at Falvo Funeral Home, 1395 N. Goodman St., where his Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated.
