Obituary of Jim Williams

Williams, Jim "Lump" Walworth: Our beloved friend, brother, uncle, car guy. Left us August 26th, 2008 at the age of 60. We all admired his wit, knowledge, passion for life and anything with an internal combustion engine. Born in Rochester, Jim graduated from RIT, was discovered at a local art festival and landed his first dream job for Car & Driver magazine as art director/photographer and writer. He went on to work for Volvo, and had an amazing career as an automotive journalist for numerous magazines and international advertising agencies. His second book, Boulevard Photographic, won a Moto Award in 1997. He raced sprint cars for Bolus & Snopes, drove in the inaugural Cannonball Run with Brock Yates, was an SCCA racer, belonged to the Sons of Danger and took up enduro motorcycle racing in his late thirties. He returned to this area 18 years ago and tended to a chunk of property in Wayne County which he lovingly referred to as Casa Coot. Survived by Paula, love of 17 years, mother Ruth, father Fred, sister Carol Anne (Randy Bond), sister Linda, nephews Austin and Michael, nieces Amie and Heather, cats, Twoie and Squeekie. Friends are invited to Casa Coot, 3196 Walworth-Palmyra Rd, from 5-7pm on Friday with a memorial service at the 2nd Baptist Church of Walworth at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers please send tributes to Lollypop Farm or to the Penfield Library for future auto/mobilia book purchases. A special thank you to the Pluta Cancer Center for 3 years of compassionate care.
