We are living out of town and just heard that Coach Bell has passed - I am so sorry for your loss .... Coach Bell was a wonderful man and coach. I played for him in the my 1969 -1971 MCC school years, which may have been his first teams. I had never played lacrosse before, and he took the time and energy to explain the game and how best to play it. He told me that I would play when I was ready - but didn't say much and just made sure that I was practicing every day. So after a season of catching and throwing against the gym block wall, he finally let me into a game ... and I scored a goal... and just the look in his eye was enough to say 'see you did it, and I am proud of you' - he couldn't stop shaking my hand !! I went on to other games and scored more goals, and his kind assurance was always there and has stayed with me all these years ....Thanks Coach Bell !!!.

Have so many positive memories from Don and the entire Bell family from back in the 70s and 80s. Very special man who always had a sparkle in his eyes. Oh, and my mother and Don used to car pool together student teaching back in the 60s. Positive thoughts to the family.

Dear Faith, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at your time of loss and sorrow. It is hard to believe that "cousin Don" is gone. He touched so many people throughout his life and was an inspiration to us all. As a child I adored my big, tall and handsome cousin. He always made me laugh and I felt I was important to him. I loved him dearly and wish I had been able to see him more often throughout the years. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids. I know Don is happy and may even be helping God set up a new Lacrosse team in heaven. Love you all very much. Sharon

To Faith and the whole Bell family - We are just so devastated at your loss. We always talked about how much of a presence and a personality Don was. He brought such an incredible energy wherever he went. We could always count on seeing him at every one of the boys' lacrosse games, regardless of which city we were in. He was always there, in the freezing cold rain and snow or the 100 degree heat. He always had a smile on his face and was always good for a few choice words for the refs (and a few laughs). My boys have grown up with him on the side lines. It was cool that the man who coached their dad at MCC was now watching them play the same sport. We will miss Don a lot. His absence will be felt and his energy missed. xoxo
