Obituary of Jileen Elizabeth Carter
On August 21, 2026, Jileen Elizabeth Carter ran into the arms of her Savior, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, and lives forever changed by the gift of her presence. The reach of her impact was far and wide and deep, and she leaves behind a multitude of friends whose lives were enriched by knowing and loving her.
Jileen is survived by her loving husband, Robert Carter Jr., and their children, Payton, Jaxon, Lawson, and pets Dakota, Whinnie, and Emmy. She is also survived by her parents, Richard and Cathleen Herman; her siblings, Matthew, Megan, Katrina, Benjamin, and Stephanie; her niece, Reese; and her nephew, Cole. The Verdines. (And many Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and others).
Jill’s greatest joy was found in loving God and loving the people He placed in her life. She devoted her life to serving young people and helping them know and follow Jesus. Over the years, she taught Bible and middle school science at Rochester Christian School, served as a campus minister with InterVarsity at RIT, Monroe Community College, and the Eastman School of Music, and directed Flower City Work Camp. She also had a deep love for musical theater and was a longtime member of the Neighborhood Acting Company. Most recently, she directed Annie for Rochester Christian School, bringing together her creativity, enthusiasm, and love for young people in a production that reflected her many gifts.
In each of these ministries and creative endeavors, Jill invested deeply in the lives of students and young people. She encouraged them in their faith, walked alongside them, and pointed them toward the hope found in Jesus.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished daughter and sister, a beloved aunt, and a friend whose presence made an unforgettable difference in the lives of so many.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Encounter Church New York (3355 Union St, North Chili, NY 14514). A celebration service honoring Jill’s life will follow at 12:00 p.m. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to gather, remember, and celebrate the life of a woman who loved Jesus deeply and shared that love generously with others.
