Obituary of Valentin Ruiz-Hernandez

Rochester- Valentin Ruiz- Hernandez, 91, passed away on Friday, August 21st. 2026.

Valentin was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on February 14th, 1935, to the late Francisco Ruiz and Hermania Hernandez. He was the beloved husband to the late Carmen Hernandez, and together they raised six children. 

Valentin is pre-deceased by his parents, Francisco Ruiz and Hermania Hernandez, his wife, Carmen Hernandez, his sister, Titi Ruiz, and his brother, Junior Ruiz.

He is survived by his children, Ismael (Maria) Ruiz, Carmen (William) Luciano, George (Elizabeth) Ruiz, Eric (the late Beatrice) Ruiz, Edwin (Minerva) Ruiz, and Awilda (Frank) Layz, and a host of siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Falvo Funeral Home, 1395 North Goodman Street, Rochester, New York 14609 on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church, 864 E. Main Street, Rochester, NY 14605, on Wednesday, August 26th. 2026 at 10:00 AM  Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
