Obituary of Ronald Frelier
Ronald Arthur Frelier, 87, of Webster, New York, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026.
He was born on August 19, 1938, and lived a life rooted in faith, service, and devotion to family.
Ronald Arthur Frelier was born to Arthur and Pietronella (Nellie) Frelier and was one of six children in their family. After Nellie's passing in 1945, Arthur later married Jean Barnes. With this second marriage, the family grew, and Ron ultimately became one of ten siblings.
He graduated from East High School in 1956 and in October of the same year enlisted in the Navy. Following four years of Naval service in 1960 Ron was transferred to the Naval Reserve and began his apprenticeship as a Union Carpenter. He spent many years employed as a union carpenter and was recently honored for 65 years of membership with Rochester Local 276.
Ronald was a faithful longtime member of the Rochester Christian Reformed Church. His commitment to his church and community was evident through decades of volunteer service. He used his carpentry skills to help with church construction projects and disaster relief efforts in the southern states, while also prioritizing regular visits to the elderly and homebound. During his leisure time, Ron often enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors appreciating God’s creation. In retirement, Ron and his wife Jean enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida, while continuing their volunteer service work and tireless visitation routine.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jean; his sons Timothy (Susan) and Donald (Lorraine); his son-in-law Mark (Allison) Schaefer; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters Marilyn (Bill) VanderWoude and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Alan, his daughter Karen, and his other siblings Kenneth, Dorothy, June, Marion, Harry, Patricia and Larry.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, from 4:00 and 7:00 PM at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, Webster, NY 14580.
A private burial will be held on Wednesday March 25, 2026.
You are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Ron's life at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to one of Ron’s favorite Christian missions. Your support in his memory would be deeply appreciated and serve to continue his legacy of faith and service.
