Our father was born in Rochester, New York on June 20th 1929 to loving parents Carmello and Maria Calcagno. He was the beloved husband to his sweetheart, the late Rose Marie (Dolly) Calcagno until her passing in 2024. Dad proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict

He is survived by his 7 children,Karen (Tim Mechler), Janice (Wes Plant), Joe (Lynn) Calcagno, John (Laurie) Calcagno, Mary Joy Calcagno, Patrice Calcagno (Marcal Kowalski-Smith) and Adam (Joell) Calcagno.

Joseph was also a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren: Timothy,Gary, Roland, Jeremiah, Brent, Sarah, Jonathan, Ashley, Ryan, Colton, Sydney, Samantha, Gabriel and Michaela. He also was a great grandfather to 13 great grandchildren: Chris, Brandon, Cadence, Ashlyn, Dylan, Gianna, Lorenza, Kober, Dean, Tanner, Baylee, Skylar and Zakai. He also had many loving nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Joseph is pre-deceased by his parents Carmello and Maria, his wife Rose Marie (Dolly) Calcagno. Son Mark, Brothers: Santo, Carl (Carm), Frank (Alice), Christopher (Fran) and sisters Francesca, Frances (Joe Mondo), Connie and Rose (Tom) Lorenzo; His Mother in law Mary Sconfitto, brother in law Carl (Rose) Sconfitto, Sister in law Grace (Sam) Barco, brother in law Jerry (Sue) Sconfitto

Our dad was in the dental field for over 70 years, proudly serving area dentists. He learned his craft from his brother Carl in the 1950's and became co-owner of Hy-Tech Dental Lab with his son Joe. He continued to work well into his eighties alongside his children and grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoyed woodworking, stained glass and spent many hours improving his home and taking care of his lawn. He had many skills including electrical and carpentry and worked on several of the homes on his street.  As his children and grandchildren got their own homes, he and Dolly were always there to pitch in and help physically and financially. He had a warm personality, and a quick wit. Although he would  greet you with a smile, he was also ready to bust your chops. He loved to joke around! Dad loved his family's cooking, especially arancini.

No words can describe the incredible loss of our wonderful father! He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

We would also like to thank all of his wonderful caregivers. In addition we would like to give a special thank you to the Rochester VA Clinic for all the care and support our family received.
