Michael Miller posted a condolence
Wednesday, February 25, 2026
My name is Michael Miller. Scott was a childhood friend and someone that I knew at an early age was a very special person. Prior to my family moving from Raymond St. to Irondequoit, I spent quite a bit of time in the Baxter household. I remember being treated so well by Carlton and Ellen. Trips with Scott to Kodak Park to go bowling and watch a movie. Going with Ellen and Scott to the Sears on Monroe Avenue. Sleepovers and grilled cheese sandwiches Ellen would make for us in the kitchen. Scott wryly irritating his Mom by continuing to say "Heluva" good cheese at the lunch table. The memories are flooding back into my mind. Staying out in your tent on summer nights. Carlton's sports car and player piano. Scott teaching me how to play Yankee Doodle on your piano. Scott and I buying Orange Crushes at the corner store. Sitting with Ellen's father on the front porch looking for out of state license plates. Scott breaking his arm. Carlton encouraging him to squeeze a rubber ball to keep his muscles strong in his broken arm. The Southside Little League games. Carlton helping Scott build an Estes rocket. Carlton getting upset at Scott and I because we were throwing snowballs at cars. Dancing in your living room to Build Me Up Buttercup. Laurie writing the lyrics of songs down on a piece of paper while she listened to songs she liked. Carlton asking me to look for player pianos while we went on vacation to New Hampshire. Taking the bus on my own from Irondequoit back to your home to visit Scott; yes, 11 year old children used to be able to do those things. Scott visiting and staying over at our home in Irondequoit after we moved. What an idyllic childhood we all had. Years later, I visited with Carlton and Ellen for a while during a visit while I was on leave from the Air Force. I remember Carlton being so proud of Scott. The last time I saw Scott, in person, was at Eleanor Gallagher's funeral, many years ago. What a great man Scott was. We send our condolences to his wife and family. God bless you all. Lori and family,
Our heart is truly broken for you. Scott was more than a colleague at Paychex, he was someone who brought light, laughter, and genuine kindness into every room. We will always cherish the memories we shared and the impact he had on all of us.
Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Our sincere apologies for not being able to attend today. Mark and Michelle Hollingshead

How to encapsulate the legacy of a friend in words that you hope will capture the essence of someone so masterful at creating special moments… whether it be on his boat at Conesus, making pizzas at the cottage, celebrating New Year’s and Trivia night at his bar Whichcraft, weekends in Ellicotville (and a wedding!), rounds of shots for any reason, he was the guy you wanted to be around. A life taken too soon, but a life that will live on through Lori and her family.

I knew Laurie and Scott from Monroe HS. Scott loved the Beatles and I gave him a couple of my albums. So long ago.

Scott was one of the most fun, loving and caring people I have ever known. I will miss him tremendously. He was part of what I call my second family, a family that I have grown to know and love for at least 60+ years.
