Jim will definitely be remembered for his beautiful smile and heart. I got the pleasure to work with Jim the last few years at Athena, and he was a source of wisdom and a true advocate for students. We feel his absence at school and can’t imagine how difficult this is for his family. Sending my deepest condolences and prayers for peace. May you find comfort in the happy memories and time you spent with him.

I worked with Jim at Greece Apollo Middle School. He was a wonderful friend, compassionate and passionate advocate for all the students he encountered, and those in the office suite he shared. He always had a smile on his face which brightened even the cloudiest day. He will be missed by all who knew him and I am honored he touched my life.

What a terrific human! Jim and I first met in the early 2000’s in Greece when we worked together in a summer program for disadvantaged students. We made great impacts with that group and he was such a mentor, role model and teacher to those teens. He was fun too- he once surprised them with popsicles on a hot day working outside- they were SO happy. I remember him teaching them at every turn- about the daily tasks of the outdoor jobs but also about direct deposit and budgeting a careers and college. He was always looking to connect with them and share whatever he could with them. I continued to cross paths with him over the years in Greece Schools- he always made me feel like he had time to catch up for a minute and as always so kind
to ask about my family. He beamed when talking about his family as well- always sharing with a smile about how they were all doing… about his and his wife’s travel and each of the kids and their schools/ages/interests. Once about 6-7 years ago, I was in my car on a warm summer afternoon, and was stopped at a red light on Winton Road. My window was down and I looked over to see Jim biking in the road toward me to say hello at the red light. We both laughed about the craziness of running into each other like that- he laughed big and real and his face was so happy. We said a quick hello and goodbye and as the light turned green he sped away. I remember thinking right then he seemed so happy and content and free- just biking in the summer sun. I will miss you, Jim. Sending the family my love.

I met Jim and Brenda when Hannah was born, and over the years I had the privilege of seeing what a loving father and husband Jim was; he would pick up Hannah every day from my care, and later Alex as well, always with such kindness and warmth. Jim truly loved being a dad and husband, and it showed in everything he did. He was such a kind soul, and I am so very sorry for this tragic loss. He will be deeply missed. Brenda, Hannah, Alex, Sharon, and the entire family — please accept my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

I raced on the Crankskins cycling team with Jim and at races, he was helpful, fun, and supportive even during the middle of the night during 24 hour races! I will miss seeing him every summer on the bike.
