Obituary of Maureen L. Biancucci
Maureen Leahy Biancucci
November 23, 1951 – February 10, 2026
Maureen Leahy Biancucci, 74, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. She was born on November 23, 1951, in Rockville Centre, New York, to Raymond D. Leahy and Marilyn M. Meadows.
Maureen grew up in Southampton, Long Island, where she created cherished memories alongside her sister, Jeanne, and her brother, Ray Leahy. Those early years by the ocean shaped her deep appreciation for family, tradition, and simple joys. She went on to attend Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, where she made lifelong friends and earned her degree in English, strengthening a love of literature and learning.
Maureen possessed a rare gift for making the world around her more beautiful simply by tending to it with thoughtfulness and love. As a teacher, she shared her passion for literature with patience and enthusiasm. In her gardens, flowers flourished, and in her kitchen she was nothing short of an artist. Whether in a classroom, setting a holiday table, preparing a favorite family recipe, or arranging a garden in bloom, her touch transformed ordinary moments into lasting memories.
Maureen was the devoted wife of the late Gilbert Biancucci and a loving and proud mother to Danielle Diglio (husband Brian) and Matt Biancucci (wife Jenna). Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her beloved grandsons: Jackson, Aidan, and Logan Diglio, and Giovanni Biancucci. She made every moment with them special — from weekend visits to holidays and family vacations — filling their lives with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
In the last years of her life, Maureen courageously battled Alzheimer’s disease. While the illness took much from her, it could never diminish her kindness. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff of The Carlucci Home in Port Jervis, New York, for the loving care they provided during the final years of her life.
As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, and friend, Maureen made her love feel effortless. Thoughtfulness was her signature, and it was woven into everything she did. Maureen’s memory will live on in the family she cherished and in the lives she touched with her grace and generosity.
Please join the family Monday, February 23rd at 9:30 a.m, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester, N.Y for the celebration of her Funeral Mass. The private interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
