Obituary of Maria C. Babocsi

Maria Csornyi Babocsi passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 92.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Janos. Survived by her children Maria (Patrick) Robusto and John (Anna) Babocsi, grandchildren John and Laura Babocsi and Mia Robusto. Also survived by her brother Dr. István Csörnyi of Szombathely, Hungary; sister-in-law Margit Mathe and brother-in-law Joseph Babocsi and many nieces and nephews.

Maria was born in the small village of Perenye, Hungary. In 1956, after the Hungarian revolution failed, Maria escaped communist Hungary with her sweetheart, Janos. They immigrated to the United States, were married and set about to build a new life. Maria was devoted to her family and making the lives of her children easier than hers had been in Hungary during the worldwide depression, WWII, and the Soviet takeover of her homeland. Though she suffered the heartache of separation from her family, she was proud and grateful to have become an American citizen. She worked at a series of jobs starting with cleaning homes to soldering and wiring on the factory floor, to joyfully babysitting her grandchildren. Maria especially loved her grandchildren and was very proud of them.

Calling hours will be held Friday, December 12, 5 pm to 7 pm, at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Nine Mile Point Road (Rte. 250), Webster NY 14580. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 10 am, at St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church, 1008 Maple Drive, Webster NY, followed by entombment in All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford,  NY 14534.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Senior Life Community, 505 Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester NY 14020 in Maria’s memory.
