Obituary of Paul Arthur Weishaar
Paul Arthur Weishaar
October 4, 1950 – October 4, 2025
Paul Arthur Weishaar, 75, of Rochester, New York, passed away on October 4, 2025. Known simply as Paul to many, he will be remembered as a loving father who encouraged his children to steadfastly pursue their aspirations while living a balanced life—who cared deeply for their well-being, always urged them to do their best, and have some fun! He passed down his love of cooking, his passion for varying styles of rock music, his fondness for French onion soup, and his enjoyment of fishing. He found his greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures, and his warmth, generosity, and quick sense of humor made him a cherished presence in his neighborhood. He always brought life and laughter to gatherings with family and friends.
Born on October 4, 1950, in Rochester, Paul was the beloved son of the late Milton Weishaar and Margretrose Decker Weishaar. He grew up in Penfield alongside his brothers, Peter and James “Jimmy” Weishaar, forming lifelong bonds rooted in humor, loyalty, and shared adventure—from exploring quarries and discovering new places to simply enjoying each other’s company.
Paul led an adventurous and spirited life, working in the hospitality field and pursuing various ventures that reflected his curiosity and love for connecting with people. He had a special passion for cooking and creating memorable dishes for those he cared about. Later, his natural interest in technology led him to develop a deep enthusiasm for computers—a field he explored independently, teaching himself how to build and repair them with creativity and patience.
Paul is survived by his children, Kevin and Lauren Weishaar; his brothers, Peter Weishaar (predeceased by his wife, Jan) and James “Jimmy” (Kathy) Weishaar; his nephews and nieces; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Margretrose Decker Weishaar.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation, whose mission is to fund research toward a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. The foundation recently partnered with Jonah’s Just Begun Foundation, established by Jill and Jeremy Weishaar in support of their son, Jonah, and other affected children and families.
