Obituary of Georgia M. Vanderlinde
SODUS / ROCHESTER – Georgia M. Vanderlinde, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at The Friendly Home in Rochester, NY.
Georgia was born in Lyons, NY, on February 22, 1944, the daughter of the late Newton and Catherine (Houser) Marro. She graduated from Clyde-Savannah High School in 1962 and held a deep affection for her classmates, many of whom remained cherished friends throughout her life. She married her husband, Donald, in 1966, and they moved to Sodus, where they spent the majority of their 59 years together.
Georgia worked in food service for the Sodus Central School District, where she found joy in being around children. She took great pride in brightening their days—whether through a kind word or a warm smile—always striving to make each child feel a little more special.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 59 years, Donald Vanderlinde; daughter, Sandy (Doug) Garrod; three grandsons, Ryan (Ashley) Garrod, Cody (Meg) Garrod, and Connor Garrod; great-grandson, Caleb Garrod; brothers, John (Diana) Marro and Thomas (Marcia Melnyk) Marro; sister-in-law, Doris Schinsing; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her parents-in-law John and Irene Vanderlinde; son, James Vanderlinde; her sister, Shirley Kise; five brothers-in-law; and her beloved cat of 19 years, Squirt.
