Obituary of Luz M. Aponte

Luz Marcia Aponte, 77, of Rochester, New York, passed away on September 28th, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Marcia will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, and the joy she brought to every room - often with the rhythm of salsa guiding her steps.

Born on June 13th, 1948, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Marcia Grew up in a large close- knit family as one of 10 Siblings three brothers and six sisters- whom she cherished deeply. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Jose Valentin Aponte, and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, music and love. Their journey brought forth three wonderful sons, who were the center of her world and inspired her every day. Marcia’s beautiful boys then had children of their own. Where she experienced the explosion of love all over again as a devoted grandmother.

Marcia’s boundless compassion and infectious spirit illuminated the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Marcia's joy for life was contagious, evident in the way she cherished every child around her. Her love for salsa music brought rhythm to our gatherings, where family and good food always created warm memories. We will carry her light in our hearts forever and ever.

Marcia is survived by Her Loving sons Jose (Michelle) and Jomar, her Grandchildren Antonio (Olivia), Jesse (Amanda), Alexa (Amado) , Joseph & Adalina , Great Grandchildren Lucas, Aliano,  Adrian and Layla.. She is also survived by her 3 brothers and 6 Sisters. 

Marcia was predeceased by her parents, her Loving Husband Jose Valentin. Aponte and Beloved Son Arlie Aponte.
