Obituary of Lee Thurston Corbett Jr.

Lee Thurston Corbett Jr.

Passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born in Rochester NY, Lee is survived by his children, Daryl (Andrea), Elizabeth (Tom) Renner, Catherine (Kris) Reinard, Bonnie (Michael) Lacagnina, Richard (Roxanne); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Mackenzie (Reinard), Garrett (Reinard), Ethan, Sophia, Lia, Parker (Renner); and his siblings, Joan (John) Quinn and Bruce (Jo). He was predeceased in death by his parents, Lee Thurston Sr and Dorothy; his wife, Mary (Margo); and his former wife and mother of his children, Margery.

Lee attended Cornell University, where he was a member of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force in July 1959, honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in November 1963. He continued to serve in the United States Airforce Reserves until his honorable discharge as a Captain in August 1974. Lee had a distinguished 28 year career at Kodak, followed by employment at several architecture firms while residing in Johnson City, TN.

Lee was deeply committed to his faith, a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pittsford and Twin City Bible Church in Winston Salem, NC. He was an enthusiastic fan of baseball, birds, big band music and he enjoyed swimming and sailing on Canandaigua Lake. He was a talented artist, frequently drawing casual portraits on his sketch pad. He also found great joy in photography and was often found with a camera in hand, taking pictures of family, friends and nature.

A heartfelt thank you to St. Ann’s Community at Cherry Ridge for the loving care they provided to Lee during the final months of his journey.

A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, on Saturday, October 11th at 10am.
