George and I knew each other at Indian Landing grammar school through 7th grade. Then Indian Landing Centralized with Penfield School System and I went there, but George went to Allendale. There he reconnected with Bob Schroedel, who was a neighbor of mine and a very close friend. Bob was a student at Penfield till 1959 when his parents sent him to Allendale.
I lost complete touch with both George and Bob as they both ended up in the service. Some 37 years later, another friend and neighbor asked me to go to breakfast on a Saturday with a group of car nuts who he met every Saturday. I went that day, and George was there. On the way out, George asked me if I ever talked with Bob Schroedel. I said no, that I had completely lost touch with him after he went to Allendale. He then told me that Bob had gone to Vietnam as a Crew Chief on the F100 Fighter Bombers, and after returning went to work for American Airlines on Long Island, NY as a mechanic on the big jets. George went on to say that Bob was retired now and lived on Long Island in the summer, and in West Palm Beach in the winter. I live in Palm Beach Gardens, FL about 5 miles from Bob. George gave me Bob's email address, and we have been getting together every month for breakfast ever since I got reconnected with him after 50 years, thanks to George.
