It’s been over a week since this shocking news. I’m still trying to process everything. In the daily pockets of stillness, I catch myself thinking about you and missing you. My heart aches for your mom, your siblings and your fiance. I was cheerleading you on, and although I swore off of social media, I made a tik tok account just to keep up with your life. You were such a brilliant soul. You impressed me even at the young age of 6 months. I remember you crying when I said I was moving to California and felt heartache that I’d be missing out on the formative years of my younger cousins. You cared and felt so much for others in your life. Even though I’ve lived afar for nearly two decades, I was always asking my mom about you. My family out here knew about your journey and we all prayed for you. I’m so grateful that my children had a chance to see you in action selling your creations, and to see what it means to follow your dreams, pave your own path, work hard and bravely put yourself out there with confidence. Amanda and I were mutuals on TikTok and I just had my own double lung transplant in October 2024. I was looking forward to seeing her journey and sending encouragement. She and I were close in age and even shared a middle name. I never really talked to her other than leaving comments, but she was so important as a creator to me, seeing someone just like me being successful was a huge inspiration and comfort. I know life is unfair, we all do, but this is so hard hitting. I am wishing love and healing to her family, partner, friends, and fans. We will all miss you, Amanda.

I was beyond privileged, lucky and truly honoured that I got the opportunity to know and love Amanda. She was such a bright source of light in so many lives, mine included. I will never forget our shared ‘how to live life and make things cheaper as a disabled person’ hacks. Her sarcasm and sense of humour will always be carried within my brain and my heart. Amanda deserved a much longer life than she got, but damn did she live the one that she got to the absolute max. I hope she has found herself resting alongside the brightest and beautiful stars. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Amanda. I found her tiktok when I was going through some health battles of my own and when I saw her videos she always made me smile. Her personality was so bright you could feel it radiate through the screen. I loved that she wasn't afraid to show the bad with the good and just be completely authentic. She was a breath of fresh air in the pool of what can sometimes be toxic online and I will never forget the impact she had on my life. The impact she had on so many lives will live on forever and her digital footprint will always be there to impact more lives long after she is gone. I often wonder if Amanda knew just have many people she had reached from all over the world; I have been following her TikTok closely since it popped up on my FYP (For You Page for the non techies out there), and she immediately caught my eye with her winning smile and her excitement.

I found Amanda around a year and a half ago. Through her reviews of clothing and then through her fighting to be listed on the transplant list.
I know my words mean little but during times of stress or pain the last year, I’ve found her video’s comforting.
She was always upbeat and the times she wasn’t she so eloquently explained what was happening.
I learnt so much through watching her and she will be missed.

Life can change in an instant. Enjoy life while you have a chance. Take the trip, tell them you love them, wear your heart on your sleeve, take the chance, be vulnerable, go to the concert, try something new. Experience all the good this life has to offer. You will never be "ready." There is never a perfect time for anything so live your life now.
This life is fleeting. The future is unsure. It takes a split second for everything to change. Let your fears and worries slip away as much as possible and just live. Make a difference where you can and treat others well. Be an organ donor so that you can help others like Amanda.
I wish you had gotten to continue your story. I will never understand why life can feel so unfair and cruel at times to the people that deserve good things the most. I know you are resting comfortably now. There are so many people that will miss you down here. You were such an inspiration to so many and always kind.

I did not know Amanda personally but I followed her on TikTok. Her joy and enthusiasm for life in spite of her illness was always so uplifting. She continued to fight for new lungs after being turned down by several medical facilities. I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve been watching Amanda’s TikTok videos for years. I was already on the donor registry list but her journey just solidified my decision. When I die I won’t have use for my organs anyway and if one of my organs can help someone like Amanda then I’m going to do it. She had such joy each and every video I saw. She inspired me to be a better person. She will be dearly missed. She was a voice for those who society forgets. My only hope is that her family finds comfort in all of the lives she touched.

I cannot imagine the pain you must be all feeling at the loss of Amanda. Steve and Janice, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I remember the day I first saw Amanda's name on my transplant patient list . While reaching out to Janice to introduce myself as transplant coordinator at bcbs, I realized this was the baby girl of a friend of my brother and also mine from working at BG's. I had a special spot in my heart for all my lung txp patients but now I had 2 in Webster that I cared about on a personal level. They have both joined the angels now-and my heart feels the loss in that special spot . I cannot even begin to imagine the loss you are feeling. Amanda was always such a sweet and kind person, and hearing of her passing is truly heartbreaking. It has been many years since I last saw her, but one memory that stands out so vividly is our 8th grade trip to Washington DC. On the bus ride she knew how much I loved the song Fireflies by Owl City, and she let me listen to her MP3 player for hours, even letting me fall asleep with her headphones on. That small act of kindness has stayed with me all these years. She was always so thoughtful and caring toward others, and I will always remember her that way.

Janice and family. I am so saddened to hear of Amanda’s passing. She was such a beautiful person and had the soul of a fighter. The love and support you all gave her to live her dreams was a blessing. May your faith continue to bring you comfort at such a difficult time.
