Obituary of Pascuala E. Chavez-Rodriguez

ROCHESTER – Pascuala Evelina Chavez-Rodriguez (1954–2025) passed away on August 16, 2025.
Pascuala was born in Huancayo, Junín, Peru, to the late Francisco Chavez and Delia Rodriguez.

She is predeceased by her brother, Jorge Chavez-Rodriguez, and her sister, Gloria Chavez-Rodriguez.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Miguel Fernando Cortez-Roman; her loving daughter, Marjorie Edelman; her cherished granddaughter, Leah Edelman; her two surviving sisters, one brother, and other relatives who will hold her memory close.

Pakita will be remembered not only for her incredible strength, generosity, and unwavering faith, but for the light, love, and warmth she shared with everyone around her. Her joy was contagious, her smile could brighten any room, and her curiosity for life was endless. She approached every day with excitement and wonder, always eager to learn, to explore, and to embrace new experiences. She lifted up everyone around her with encouragement, support, and her boundless energy.

Her courage and love were evident when she accompanied her family to the United States, walking beside them through every challenge and triumph, helping to build a better future with her wisdom, guidance, and steadfast devotion. Pakita’s kindness, laughter, and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her spirit, joy, and love will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends forever.

A Catholic funeral will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, at Corpus Christi, Rochester, 864 E Main St, Rochester, NY 14605.

Pakita’s light, love, and strength will live on forever in our hearts. She will be deeply missed and always remembered with love.

Pascuala nació en Huancayo, Junín, Perú, hija de los difuntos Francisco Chávez y Delia Rodríguez.

La preceden en la muerte su hermano, Jorge Chávez-Rodríguez, y su hermana, Gloria Chávez-Rodríguez.

Le sobreviven su esposo amado, Miguel Fernando Cortez-Roman; su hija querida, Marjorie Edelman; su nieta adorada, Leah Edelman; sus dos hermanas sobrevivientes, un hermano y otros familiares que conservarán su memoria con cariño.

Pakita será recordada no solo por su increíble fortaleza, generosidad y fe inquebrantable, sino también por la luz, el amor y la calidez que compartía con todos a su alrededor. Su alegría era contagiosa, su sonrisa iluminaba cualquier lugar, y su curiosidad por la vida no tenía límites. Vivía cada día con entusiasmo y asombro, siempre ansiosa por aprender, explorar y abrazar nuevas experiencias. Animaba y apoyaba a todos a su alrededor con su energía infinita y su cariño.

Su valor y amor fueron evidentes al acompañar a su familia a los Estados Unidos, permaneciendo juntos en cada desafío y logro, ayudando a construir un mejor futuro con su sabiduría, guía y devoción constante. La amabilidad, la risa y el entusiasmo por la vida de Pakita dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que la conocieron. Su espíritu, alegría y amor continuarán guiando e inspirando a su familia y amigos por siempre y para siempre.

Se celebrará una Misa de Funeral en la fe católica a las 10:00 a.m. del viernes 29 de agosto en Corpus Christi, 864 E Main St, Rochester, NY 14605.

La luz, el amor y la fortaleza de Pakita vivirán para siempre en nuestros corazones. La extrañaremos profundamente y siempre la recordaremos con amor.
