Obituary of John G. Ochs Jr.

WEBSTER- John G. Ochs Jr., 77, died on Friday, June 27, 2025. 

John was born in Newark, NJ on December 30, 1947, to the late John G. and Eleanor Ochs Sr. BS Graduate of Lowell Technological Institute and two MS degrees at Rochester Institute of Technology.  He worked at the Xerox Corporation for 32 years. For years he was an active EMT and former Vice President at Penfield Volunteer Ambulance and always championed First Aid as a qualified instructor.  Had many hobbies and a longstanding love of firetrucks.  John had a charismatic personality that will be long remembered for his brilliant humor, laugh, storytelling, and love of his family.  He always took an interest in others’ lives and cheered on their successes.  He was always there with wise words of encouragement and was a man of deep faith. 

John is predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline (Thomas) MacDonnell.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Joanna (John) Stapleton; son, Matthew (Jody); daughter, Suzanne; granddaughter, Veronica; nephew, Thomas Francis (Tara) MacDonnell with children Mary and Margaret; niece, Cynthia (David) Barnwell; nephew, Kevin (Katherine) MacDonnell and children Jack and Kate, and many loving nieces, nephews, close friends, and colleagues. 

Calling hours will be held at Falvo Funeral Home. 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, Webster, NY 14580, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 4pm-6pm. Mass at St. Ambrose Church, 25 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 10:30am. Burial at White Haven Memorial Park.
