Extremely saddened by the news of David's passing. He and his entire famiy were dear friends of our family for several years growing up in Rochester. I have a vague recollection and funny story of he and I once playing at his house when we were around 6 or 7 years old. We thought it was "cool" that there was some new material that had been delivered to his house that we hadn't seen before and decided to use it to build a "fort" and to hide behind. Unfortunately, what we didn't know at the time is that this material was fiberglass insulation- we both itched and scratched at ourselves for hours!!!
My heart and condolences go out to his family and all of his friends during this difflcult time. Rest in Peace, David.

I am so sorry to hear that David has passed. He was brilliant, funny, outgoing, had movie star good looks and was my best friend. I met David on my first day of kindergarten and we became instant friends. We hung out together all the way through high school. We were risk takers and often did things that were exciting but less than brilliant. The worst was the time we climbed over the fence and jumped into the Cobb's Hill reservoir. The water was so cold I couldn't breath or swim at first. Then we had to climb a pipe to get out and I was so cold I didn't think I was going to make it. We both laughed when we got out, but agreed that we should never do that again. When we were 16 we spent a couple of weekends picking grapes for cash. The weather was cold rain and the owners of the vineyard fed us all the boiled hot dogs we could eat for lunch. We had a ton of fun. Afterward, we spent all of the money we earned on beer and made a spectacle of ourselves. We discussed science, philosophy, religion and politics and we just knew that we had all of the answers. We skipped school, hung out with girls, got into fights and had a few encounters with the police. It was a lot of harmless fun. The first 20 years of my life were by far the hardest, but having a friend like Dave let me survive it. I joined the Navy and We stayed close for a few years, but eventually our lives diverged and we lost contact. I cant think about my youth without thinking of David. I cried when I heard that he passed. He will always be part of my life and the world will not be the same without him. All I can say is "Thank you Dave, I wouldn't change those times for anything. I will see you on the other side"

We met Dave 22 years ago when our kids started Webster Montessori School at 3 years old. Little did we know that would be the beginning of a great friendship. We navigated early childhood together and then progressed into the wonderful world of travel hockey. What a gift it was traveling to tournaments together watching our kids grow as athletes and into fine young men. We learned we enjoyed each other’s company even after our children had gone on to college and we continued to be together. A couple of fun times to note - The Who concert in Canandaigua for which we borrowed my mother’s camper was a great time! The Tough Mudder race was one of the first forays into extreme athleticism and then Dave introduced Rob to marathon running at the Segahunda - which of course is one of the most challenging courses ever! But they did it together and that made it exceptional. You will always be with us Dave, and we will support Marina and Greg forever. All our love always…The Gibb Family, Rob, Katie, Robby, Justin and Kaylee.

I am the black sheep of the family. I say this with great pride. I have never know a person or family that is accepting of anyone regardless of any factors. May your family have peace. I love you. Ernie Whitaker
