Obituary of Thomas Jonathan McMindes

Thomas Jonathan McMindes, 21, passed May 22nd, 2025 in his home.

Known as Tommy, he was born and raised in Penfield, NY. He was a graduate of Penfield High School where his competitive nature drove him in the many sports he played including lacrosse, swimming, and diving.

Travel was an important part of his life with frequent trips to Disney, beach vacations, and the yearly tradition of summers up at Alexandria Bay or Kring State Park.

A landscaper who greatly enjoyed the outdoors, camping was a constant throughout his life, also serving as the perfect excuse to be near water. He loved any opportunity to be out on a boat no matter if he was leisurely fishing or being dragged behind it while tubing and skiing.

Fall and winter brought hunting with family and snowboarding, both of which fed his competitive spirit. Whether it was on the boats or in his Chevy, he loved to move fast and every ride was a chance to push the limit.

Tommy prided himself on being a loyal, caring friend and while he may have spoken through his actions, it was always his smile that best displayed his loving heart. Tommy would do anything for the people he cared about driven by his intense emotions and empathy. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

He is predeceased by grandparents Harlo McMindes and Edward and Helen Wolff as well as uncles Larry McMindes and Michael Wolff. He is survived by his parents, Pamela and Michael McMindes, siblings, Elizabeth and Alexander, grandmother Linda (Jerry) Weaver, aunts, Colleen Wolff, Laura (Russell) Page, and Lisa (Clay) Knick, and his many beloved cousins. He also leaves behind two dogs, Bandit and Gibbs, and Fondu the cat.

Calling hours will be held at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Webster Road, Webster, NY 14580, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Asbury First United Methodist Church, Community Outreach Center, 1050 East Ave or Penfield Ambulance
