Obituary of Alfonse Oliveri

Passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on May 20, 2025, at age 87. Predeceased by his parents, Calogero and Carmela Oliveri; Siblings, Vincenza (Silvestro) Fantauzzo, Josephine (Leo) DeLuca; Mother and Father in-law, Giovanni and Vincenza Cardinale; Brother in-laws, Salvatore Arbore, Joseph Cardinale, Jerry Cardinale, Vincenzo Cardinale; Niece, Pamela Kalke; Survived by his loving and compassionate wife of 61 years, Anna; Loving children, Carmela (Frederic) Scarpulla, Vivian (Charles) Infantino, Linda (Dean) Meyers; Grandchildren, Salvatore (Courtney) Infantino, Anthony (Nicole DelRegno) Scarpulla, Adriana (Dominic) Chinelli, Alyssa ( Fiancé Pedro Beato) Scarpulla, Marissa Scarpulla, Danielle (Jacob) Checho, Sean (Hailey) Meyers; 8 Great-grandchildren; Siblings, William (Jacqueline) Oliveri, Maria Arbore; Sister in-laws, Carol (Richard) Rago, Teresa (George) Giuliano, Maria (Dennis Garcia) Cottone, Antonietta Cardinale, and Terri Cardinale; Many nieces, nephews, and close friends

Alfonse was the eldest of five children. He emigrated to America from Grotte, Sicily on December 20th, 1953. In 1964, he married Anna, the love of his life. Together, they raised three daughters. He was a family oriented man, always putting his family first. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

After working at Xerox for 12 years, he opened The Main Stop Deli in Rochester, New York where he was referred to as “Pops”. For 16 years, he proudly served his customers with dedication.

Alfonse was a man who lived life with great passion and joy. He found peace in the outdoors and took pride in his beautiful garden. Always impeccably dressed, he had a passion for fashion and a collection of more than 500 neckties that reflected his unique sense of style.

A lover of culture, Alfonse enjoyed watching soccer, listening to classical music, and surrounded himself with an impressive library of records and books. He was an avid photographer, capturing cherished moments of his family with care and creativity.

Alfonse was also a gifted baker and cook. He delighted in preparing meals for loved ones and was especially known for his one-of-a-kind cakes, which became the centerpiece of every family celebration.

His wisdom benefited all who knew him. He had a positive impact on the lives of those around him. 

He was a true gift, and will be deeply missed.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday May 27, from 3pm – 7pm at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fpt. Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster. On Wednesday, May 28, please meet the family for his Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. Joseph’s Church. Entombment White Haven Memorial Park.
