Obituary of Daniel E. Wood

Daniel Elliot (Dan) Wood, 50, of Rochester, NY, passed away on May 5, 2025, in Rochester, NY.

Dan is survived by his wife of 25 years, Leisja Wood, and his daughters Natalie and Ashley Wood. He is also survived by his mother, Maragret Wood. His sisters, Meridith Pitre (Isiah) and Kristina Wood (Dan); His nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Makenzie and Mallory Pitre, Mathew and Andrew Snyder, and Deanna Snyder; He was preceded in death by his Father, Ted Wood. He is also fondly remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins, many extended family members and many dear friends.

Dan was born in Rochester, NY on July 3, 1974. He graduated from Edison Tech High School in 1992 and went on to proudly serve seven years in the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he worked for 25 years as a senior advanced computer network engineer in IT and communications.

Dan had a passion for all things fast and bold—cars, racing, motorcycles, and spicy food (the hotter the better). He loved Star Wars, Marvel and DC comics, video games, rock and country music, and was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan. He also had a deep interest in military history and weaponry. Dan was baptized and a proud member of Victory Church.

Dan loved his family, he did everything for them. He was known to many as “Mr. Awesome” or “Dan the Man,” a title he lived up to every day. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 8th from 4:00–7:00 PM at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Nine Mile Pt. Road Webster, NY 14580.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9th from 9:00–10:00 AM at White Haven Memorial Park All Seasons Chapel 210 Marsh Rd. Pittsford, NY 14534. Military Honors Burial service will be held immediately after.  

A Lunchtime reception will be held immediately following the service at Victory Baptist Church 32 Wildbriar Rd.
