Ronald J. Mathieu Sr.
November 23,1942 - April 30, 2025
Ronald J Mathieu Sr. passed away to be with Jesus on Wednesday April 30th, 2025, at 1:50 P.M. He was well looked after at Leo Care Center at St Ann’s Community. Ronald was predeceased by his dear mother Doris Malone Mathieu and his father Charles Mathieu, his brother Charles, sisters Shirley and Carol. He was also predeceased by his beloved niece Doris.
He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 29 years, June. His brother Kenneth Mathieu, his son Ronald J. Mathieu Jr. and his daughter Tracy Kuhlkin. Grandchildren Alex and Julia Mathieu and Zoe and Aiden Kuhlkin.
He was a devoted stepfather to June’s children, Matthew R Snow (Irene), Grandfather to Qais, Noah and Ty and Heather J.S.Telfer, (Vince) and Grandfather to Connor, Brennan, Alaura and Fiona.
Ron held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews - the children of his sisters Shirley and Carol. Mike, Nancy, Mark (Heather), John, Ron (Roek), Linda (Marvin), Donald (Reny), and Dawn. He cherished the time he spent with them. He is also fondly remembered by many cousins and extended family members.
Ron was born in Somersworth, New Hampshire and spent his childhood in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, moving to Pittsfield Mass. to be near his sister Shirley. At the age of 17 he received his mother’s permission to go into the U.S Air Force where he honorably served for 8 years as a vehicle mechanic including deployments in Canada and Vietnam. After his discharge in 1968, he relocated to Rochester to be near Shirley again. Ron worked for a dealership as a mechanic for several years before he founded his own business Mathieu's Garage in Williamson, N.Y., named after his uncle's shop. He owned and operated the garage for over 30 years. earning the trust of his community through hard work, honesty and dedication. He retired in 2007.
Ron was an avid sportsman who enjoyed racquetball and especially golf. He proudly recorded two holes-in-one during his years of play and cherished the winters he spent in Sarasota and Ocala Florida, golfing with his wife.
Ron's legacy is one of faith, family, service and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family may visit Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Nine Mile Pt. Road, Webster NY 14580 on Monday May 5, 2025, from 4 - 7 PM.
Funeral service will be held at Evangelical Church of Fairport (ECF) 38 East Church Street, Fairport, NY at 11:00 AM on Tuesday May 6, 2025. A lunchtime reception will be held immediately following the service. Burial will be at a later date convenient for the family.
