Obituary of Vasili Efstratios Janetos

Vasili Janetos, born in Anogia, Greece in 1942, passed away peacefully April 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted father, Papou, great-grandfather and Papa.  Vasili lived a life rich in love, laughter, and tradition.

In 1969, Vasili immigrated to the United States, where he built a long and respected career as an electrician at Eastman Kodak. A hardworking and proud family man, he never lost touch with his Greek roots and maintained close bonds with his extended family in Greece.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Janetos, who passed in 2003, as well as his parents and brothers. Vasili is survived by a loving family, including his sister in Greece; children Angeliki “Kiki” Janetos, Amy (Jason) Temple, Stephen (Jill) Janetos; grandchildren Haleigh (Peter) Monohan, Leighton (Brooke) Temple, Mary Frances Kathleen Janetos, Sullivan Grace Janetos; and great-grandson Ira Jethro Monohan.  The children brought him endless joy in his later years.

A true fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, Vasili rarely missed watching a game. He had a quick wit, a deep laugh, and always loved sharing a good joke, glass of ouzo, and game of cards with friends. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

The calling hours will be held at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Webster Road, Webster, NY 14580, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A graveside service will be held at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Shepherd Home, Penfield where Vasili donated his time, talent, and treasure.
