Obituary of Juan G. Rivera Sr.

Juan Gerardo Rivera, 59, of Rochester, NY, passed away on March 27, 2025,

surrounded by his loving family.Juan was born on July 2, 1965, in Guayama, Puerto Rico, to Iris E. Sanchez and Jose Rivera. He was a devoted father to Juan “Buggy”, Joshua, Carmen, Steven, Stephanie, Shakira, and Naviianna, and a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren.

Affectionately known as "Geral," Juan was a man who always showed up for his family and friends. His love for life was evident in the simple joys he cherished—playing dominoes, fishing, and listening to the rhythms of El Gran Combo and classic salsa music.

He was known for his sharp sense of style, never leaving the house without perfectly creased jeans and neatly blow-dried hair. He adored his children, his loyal dog Mia, and his turtle Lisa.

Juan is survived by his siblings Margarita Rivera, Ana M. Rivera, Emma R. Rivera, Jose Mendoza, Eva Rivera, Lourdes Mendoza, Rosalina Rivera, Veronica Padilla, and Jose A. Padilla. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings Juan B. Rivera and Carmen G. Rivera.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday 4/1/25 from 4-7 PM  with a Funeral Service Wednesday 4/2/25 at 10 AM, at Falvo Funeral Home, 1395 N. Goodman St. Rochester, NY 14609. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
