Obituary of Barbara J. Aman
Mrs. Barbara Aman (Tellgren), age 89, passed away peacefully Monday, January 20, 2025. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years John Aman and her devoted son Paul Scott Tellgren. Barb is survived by her children and grandchildren Carla Woodhouse of Columbus, Ohio (Cara, Nicole, Krista), Betsy Connors of Buffalo, New York (Lauren, Erik, Mark), Michael and Sue Tellgren of Onamia, Minnesota (Paul and John), Suzan Tellgren of Ontario, New York, Phillip Tellgren of San Diego, California (Hanna), and Ben and Lauren Aman of Ontario, New York (Nora, Reese, Isla). She is also survived by John’s children Marla Houk (Michael), Marty Aman (Laurie), Gary Aman (Betty), Allie Keenehan (Michael), Chrissy Aman, and Rick (Melissa) Aman.
Barbara was born August 31, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, moved to California then Minnesota. In 1969 the Tellgren family moved to Brighton, New York. Barb met, fell in love with and married John Aman, and moved to Walworth, then Ontario, New York.
Barbara retired from Rochester General Hospital after a rewarding career as a delivery room nurse. Barb and John liked to travel the United States. Cruises, country-wide trip, back and forth to Florida. Often traveling to NYC, she attended and enjoyed Broadway shows. She did treasure her times visiting Manhattan. She also loved going to casinos. Often lucky, she came home with more than she went in with. After the traveling years, she and John lived a lovely quiet life in Ontario surrounded by family and many grandchildren.
Barb will be remembered as a loyal fan and recorder of her family’s sporting and entertainment events. She was an avid NCAA viewer. She rooted for the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs (sorry), and Pittsburg Steelers. She was often in attendance at Rochester Red Wings games with her family. She loved gardening and had an epic vegetable and flower garden on Atlantic Avenue. Scaling back later in life, she still enjoyed tending her smaller gardens. She had a green thumb keeping orchids and African violets alive and blooming for years. Barbara loved listening to Broadway tunes, Elton John, The Eagles, and Billy Joel. Barb was an incredible baker, much to her family’s enjoyment!
Barbara did not suffer in her final days and was surrounded by family, friends and music. We hope that she had a soft landing where John, Scott, Uncle Bill, Uncle Dick, her mom, and so many others met her and wrapped their loving arms around her.
Calling hours Monday, January 27 from 4-7pm with a brief service to follow at 7pm. Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd, Webster, NY 14580.
