Comai to my parents Rosa and Pablo Colon who cherished the friendship they had with her and Domingo, now they are all together in heaven praising and worshipping God! Gladys, a friend, pioneer, & Puertorriqueña de pura sepa. My family grew up knowing her family from N. Union to 6th St. From Our Lady of Mt. Carmel to Father Tracy. Her smile was like Sabado Gigante, brillante y pegahoso. Her husband Domingo was the spanish D.J. that kept Rochester in tune on Sundays.
Gladys was my families friend. When mami died her and Flora Nuñez said ustedes siempre tienen una madre que somos nosotras. Bendiciones.
Doña Gladys was one of the most loving and nurturing people I ever knew as a young boy, so full of joy and gratitude! I'll always remember her face light up whenever she saw me...as if I was one of her own. Thank you Doña Gladys for being one of my mother's all-time best friends over the many decades! The news of Glady passing has been a heart breaker. It is hard s to process. To her children and family know that my condolences go out to you. Glady is a legend, known for her sincere heart, kindness and loyal heart in friendship. I will miss her laughter our times on the telephone and the stories we shared…I will miss her love and her presence on this earth and thankful that she was in my life.
