Obituary of Donald J. Mark

Mark, Donald J. Justice Supreme Court Retired.

Penfield - Our beloved Marine Judge fought his last battle on Saturday February 10th at age 91. He died peacefully with his family and friends by his side.  He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years Rosalie (Lanza) and his Marine brother of 57 years Al Brown.  He is survived by his devoted daughter Laurie A. Mark; loving son Robert S. (Joan) Mark; sisters Delores (Joe) Brugnoni and Marie (Vito) Slapelis; three grandsons, Christopher (Anna), Kevin and Kyle; nieces, nephews , many dear friends and his grand-critters Semper Fi III, Whistler, Charlie, Max and Wally.

Donald was a very devoted Marine Corp Veteran of WW II and the Korean conflict.  A member of Cooper Marine Post and Marine Corp Coordinating Counsel.  He became a member of the Bar Association in 1953. Subsequently he was elected as the Town Judge of Penfield, as a Monroe County Court Judge and as a New York State Supreme Court Justice, retiring after serving in that capacity for 14 years. 

Judge Mark ran his first marathon at age 58, his daily regimen included running 10 miles a day, 1000 sit ups, 500 trunk twists, weight lifting and a quart of ice cream a day.

Special thanks to the medical staff at RGH MICU and Unit 5400 and to Dr. Richard Constantino for his outstanding care and friendship. Heartfelt appreciation to his wonderful team of caregivers:  Anne, Claire, Donna, Nicole, Jim, Kim, Alexia, Laurie, Tina and Michelle.  Also, to three very special people with whom he shared a deep bond: Kevin Saunders, Stephen Hyer and Glenda Brayman.

The Judge belonged to many organizations, some of which were the Webster Knights of Columbus, Italeo of Rochester, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Korean War Veterans Assoc, Marine Corps Historical Foundation and the China Marine Assoc.  

Friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, February 14th from  4 to 7 pm and Thursday, February 15th from 2 to 8 pm at Falvo Funeral Home, located at 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, (Rte. 250)Webster, NY 14580. The funeral will be held Friday February 16th at 9:15 am at St. Rita’s Catholic Church 1008 Maple Drive Webster, NY 14580. Interment with Military Honors immediately following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
